Occupational Health Challenges and Solutions in the Arctic and subarctic regions
In Hans Pettersson’s project as Arctic Five Chair, the research questions cover the impact of climate and weather on outdoor workers’ performance, health, and safety, including mitigative and adaptive strategies. My focus is to find solutions to health and performance concerns among workers in the mining industry, cold storage industry and outdoor work.
During the first year as chair, Hans will hold a workshop on future challenges among workers in the Arctic in collaboration with University of Oulu and The Arctic University of Norway. There is a plan for special session on occupational health and safety in the Arctic at the Arctic Frontiers 2023 conference.
